Among all features that project our feelings, thoughts, and emotions, our eyes have the greatest impact. Not only do our eyes "speak" about the way that we feel, but they effect how others perceive and react to us as well. Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is the preferred treatment for removing bags under the eyes or drooping eyelids: conditions that can add years to your appearance, and even impair your vision. Eyelid surgery may be performed under sedation on an out-patient basis. Your doctor will make tiny incisions along the natural lines of your eyelids through which excess fat, skin and muscle is removed.

In many cases the lower eyelid incision can be hidden on the inside of the lower lid where they are invisible.   Although patients are back to their normal routine within a week, recovery may take several weeks. Swelling and bruising and some discomfort are part of the recovery process and usually can be alleviated with cold compresses and appropriate medications.
