Some people who otherwise are not overweight are distressed because of
a double chin, sagging jowls, or very round face. Fat deposits in these locations may be
due to heredity or the natural aging exercise and weight loss and until recent times could
not be changed. Recently, however, several surgical procedures have been developed to
eliminate fatty deposits on the face and neck.
Facial liposuction surgery involves the removal of specific areas of localized fat
deposits and may be performed alone or in conjunction with other facial surgery such as
chin augmentation and facelift.
Suction assistance lipectomy is performed by the doctor on an
out-patient
basis under sedation. A narrow tube (cannula) is inserted into a small incision made in an
inconspicuous place. The doctor then manipulates the cannula which is connected to
a strong vacuum, breaking up fatty areas and suctioning out the fat.
